Secondo i conoscenti durante le riprese i due attori restavano spesso soli, di sera si incontravano per parlare, ridere, suonare musica. Nonostante Robert sapesse che Kirsten era fidanza con l'attore newyorkese Michael Angarano, non si faceva problemi nell'esternare quanto fosse pazzo di lei.
Con le riprese di New Moon l'amicizia sembra essere diventata ancora più intima, con report dei due a cena in ristoranti romantici, sia in Italia che negli States.
Secondo OK!Magazine, alcuni amici dell'attrice avrebbero detto che Kristen sarebbe indecisa tra i due ragazzi. Certo è che anche agli MTV Movie Awards i due sembravano molto vicini.

After filming New Moon they seem even closer, with magazines reporting romantic dinners, even while shooting in Italy. According to OK! Mag, some friends of the actress have said that Kristen is torn between choosing Robert or Michael. It sure seemed that they were really close at the MTV Movie Awards.
